Planned water shutdown
Ugu District Municipality would like to inform the public regarding the planned water shutdown due to the construction of 27ML/d extension pipeline to the Bhobhoyi Water Treatment Works, especially preparing for the next Peak season. Communities that will be affected are those residing from Hibberdene to Ramsgate and inland areas like Gamalakhe, Murchison, Bhobhoyi and greater Nyandezulu area.
• 14 FEB 2017 – This is an 8 hour shutdown. Starting from 7am to 3pm. Consumers will be greatly affected. Consumers are encouraged to save as much water as they can so that the recovery can be realised quicker.
• 21 FEB 2017 – A 12 hour shutdown, from 6am to 6pm. Consumers will have no water for the duration of the shutdown. Water expected to be restored in the early hours of Febr 22.
• 28 FEB 2017 – This is an 8 hour shutdown. Starting from 7am to 3pm. Consumers will be greatly affected. Customers are urged to store enough water as relief measures will not be able to cover all areas but preferences will be given to hospitals and schools.
In the event where the shutdown is cancelled for whatever reason, it will be moved to the following week. Any inconvenience that might be caused due to this shutdown is sincerely regretted.
